Coming in for a Landing
The male eastern bluebird has beautiful contrasting feathers of blue and orange. These birds have incredible sight and can spot a bug on the ground up to 60 feet away. I imagine the bird in this photo has had a snack and is returning to his perch on the fence to relax before spotting another bug.
When I came across this photo I knew I could not resist the beauty of the extended feather in flight. It is difficult to truly get a clear view of them without the use of a high quality photograph as found in the reference by Patrice Bouchard. If you love wings as much as I do, this print will make a beautiful addition to your art collection.
This print is taken from the original drawing which was done on 9×12 Arches hot press watercolor paper using artist quality colored pencils.
