Commissioning a Portrait

I try to make commissioning a portrait with me as easy and enjoyable as possible. Please take a look at the steps below so you understand the process before you begin. I can’t wait to work with you!

Decide on the size

Take a look at the options below and decide what size you would like. I request a non-refundable 50% deposit before starting on all custom portraits. This amount will be calculated and billed to you after we confirm photos.

Collect your photos

All of my work is created from reference photos. While I can work with less-than-perfect images – especially if your pet has already crossed the rainbow bridge – it may affect the quality of my work. In order to produce work as you see in my gallery I require high-resolution photos. I am more than happy to work with you on choosing the right photo and layout. I can also photoshop your images to help give you an idea of how the final drawing will look.

Contact me

Send me a message using the below contact me form to let me know that you would like to work with me. I will respond with the link where you can upload your photos and once I get your photos I’ll send you an email so we can work together to choose an image.

I get to work

Using high quality lightfast pencils and archival quality acid free paper I create the drawing we agreed upon. I will happily send over progress photos as I work and, with permission, share them on my social media pages.

Depending on when you book with me and how busy I am decides how long the portrait will take. At the time of booking I can give you a better estimate about when I should have it ready. If you need it ready in a hurry a rush fee may be applied depending on my availability to accommodate your request.

Please try to get your commission to me about a month before you need it to ensure for time to discuss photos and accommodate shipping times.

Shipping

Your drawing will be packed in a rigid box and mailed flat. I recommend returning the drawing to it’s wrapping after viewing and getting it framed as soon as possible after you receive it to help preserve it for years to come.

*Prices are based on one subject that will appropriately fill the page based on their pose. Room on the edges is always allowed for mounting and framing.
